Sandra Hamaoui

French-American soprano Sandra Hamaoui is known for her radiant, agile voice and magnetic stage presence. Acclaimed for her “homogeneous and flexible voice of fine velvet,” she brings emotional nuance and stylistic finesse to every role.

The 2025/2026 season includes several major appearances: Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) at Opernhaus Zürich under Pierre Dumoussaud, her role debut as Violetta in La Traviata in Almería, Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at Opera Naples with Ramón Tebar, and Musetta (La bohème) in concert at both the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with Marco Armiliato.

Her recent seasons included standout debuts: Soeur Constance in Robert Carsen’s Dialogues des Carmélites at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía conducted by Riccardo Minasi; Sophie in Christoph Loy’s new production of Werther at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées under François-Xavier Roth; and Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, also at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Lorenzo Passerini. She was also praised for her performance in Orff’s Trionfi at Staatsoper Hamburg under Kent Nagano, and as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette with Orchestre de chambre de Genève.

A former ensemble member of Opernhaus Zürich, she has performed roles including Gilda, Nanetta, Gretel, Lisette, and Susanna. On the concert stage, she has appeared in Fauré’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Mahler’s Second and Fourth Symphonies, and Orff’s Carmina Burana—which she reprises this season with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Dennis Russell Davies.

With a career defined by elegant vocalism and bold role choices, Sandra Hamaoui continues to affirm her place on the world’s major operatic stages.
